Animal magick of any kind to me is part of animal communications.
It is on the level of working with spirit.
We’ve all heard of animal magick, the use of animal symbolism to work love magick, wealth magick and the likes for people. But try finding a spell FOR animals and the animal kingdom?
I found it pretty tough.
That realization occurred to me this month when I was faced with having to help some dogs that were in a very sticky situation. To make a long story short they ended up needing homes after being very badly treated.
First thing was first; I needed to put together a calming spell to help these dogs feel safe.
The next thing – I needed to put together a “find a home” spell. In this particular case I cast a circle and called on the dog god Anubis. In my experience, treat him, as any god with great reverence.
Brown candles can represent the animal kingdom, but mostly it is the color of this wonderful dog god. If you have the names of the dogs etch them into it. Light the Candle and call in Anubis. If working with a cat, call in Bast and use a black or white Candle. Feel it out, she likes either. Once you feel their presence ask them to aid you in your quest for a new home for your hapless animal friends.
Offer them something in return (especially Anubis) this could be something like always helping animals (which you probably do anyway), placing a picture or statue of him somewhere in your home, giving money to an animal shelter, or treating your dog
to a day at a doggy camp.
If you have a sick animal the above spell works for that too. Once you have the animal god called in ask for their assistance in healing your animal. In this case I have gone one
Step further and written a note with what I want on a piece of green paper (for healing) and placed it under the candle. Once it was burnt out I took the note and placed it under the animals bed to keep the healing energy moving close to them.
If you work with Reiki, something you can do for a sick animal is place your second level symbols around their sick beds and over their food and water with the intention of helping them get better and increasing their abilities to self-heal.
The summer is bad for animals that are in accidents that end tragically, why not take a moment while driving by to call on the gods of nature and whatever animal guides are interested to aid that creature’s poor soul over the rainbow bridge so they have safe passage and are not alone?
Here are the names of some animal friends that you can call on:
GODDESS ARTEMIS/DIANA – Greek/Roman huntress and patron of the animals
ST. FRANCIS OF ISISI – patron of animals, children and all innocents (Diane has a beautiful pendant in the store.)
ANUBIS – Egyptian god of the dogs
BAST – Egyptian cat goddess
RHIANON – Celt goddess of the horses
GANESHA – Indian goddess, wonderful to call on for elephants
POTNIA THERON - Minoan and Mycenaean Mistress of Animals. She was also known as "Lady of Wild Things", "Mistress of Wild Beasts”.
