Chakra
Chakras are energy centres in the body, traditionally described as seven primary points running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, each governing different aspects of physical and spiritual well-being.
Chakras are energy centres within the body. The word comes from Sanskrit and means "wheel" or "disk." In many spiritual traditions, there are seven primary chakras, each located along the spine from its base to the crown of the head.
Each chakra is associated with specific aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being:
The root chakra (base of the spine) relates to safety, security, and grounding. The sacral chakra (lower abdomen) relates to creativity, emotions, and relationships. The solar plexus chakra (upper abdomen) relates to confidence, personal power, and identity. The heart chakra (centre of the chest) relates to love, compassion, and connection. The throat chakra relates to communication, truth, and self-expression. The third eye chakra (between the eyebrows) relates to intuition, insight, and perception. The crown chakra (top of the head) relates to spiritual connection, awareness, and higher consciousness.
When a chakra is balanced and open, energy flows freely and the qualities associated with it function well. When a chakra is blocked or overactive, it can manifest as physical symptoms, emotional patterns, or a sense of being "stuck" in a particular area of life.
Chakra work — through meditation, energy healing, breathwork, or intentional practice — aims to bring these centres into balance so that energy moves smoothly through the entire system.
