Behind the Scenes: What a Psychic’s Life Is Really Like at Home
Ever wondered what a professional psychic is like outside of a reading? Discover how seer Angel manages intuitive "volume," sets strict home boundaries, and balances spiritual gifts with everyday physical reality.

Don't expect us to always have our reading glasses on.
A professional seer is very different in their psychic day-to-day work life than they are at home, or when you run into them on the street. Most of us cannot simply turn our gifts off and on at will. Even those of us who can still need to deeply focus on the situation at hand.
On the odd occasion, Spirit will deem something so incredibly important that our "spidey senses" will go off in the strangest of places. When that happens, we pay particular attention to our surroundings and what our intuitive abilities and spiritual posse are trying to tell us. We know something is afoot.
But just like anyone else, we need downtime.
Tuning the Volume of Intuitive Gifts
We don't turn off our abilities—we can't. No one can. However, some of us can turn the volume down. Others only have access to their gifts when it is deemed necessary and fit by the powers that be.
I fall into the former category: I turn it up and down at will.
That said, I am not good at being put on the spot. When I'm rushed, I tend to try too hard, move too fast, and lose my focus. I will still get answers, but they will be fuzzy. To be at my absolute best, I need to be in my designated space.
What does that mean? Each psychic sets up a specific energy for themselves when they do a reading. While I can read anywhere, anytime, I am at my absolute peak in front of an audience or in my office when I am given a few quiet moments to really tune in beforehand. I always take about 10 to 15 minutes before a session to welcome Spirit, turn my abilities up to "high," and ask to be given the exact specifics needed to help whomever I am about to encounter.
Angel the Psychic vs. Angel at Home
So, what is it like when I'm just hanging out at home? Honestly, I suck at the material, everyday stuff!
I lose my keys just like everyone else, and sometimes my communication skills on the simplest things are terrible. I am not the best grocery shopper in the world, and I have my own insecurities.
As Angel the Psychic, I have a grounded confidence and feel a different kind of empowerment than I do at home. In the public eye, it is just me and Spirit working for the client or the audience. But at home? It is me, Spirit, my family, my friends, my daily obligations, and soooooooo much more. I feel great in both roles, but they are definitely different.
At home, I am just Angel.
Having said that, I do cheat when I remember to! I’ll ask my angels to help me find my misplaced keys or glasses. More times than not, I’ll even ask the angels to give me the exact words I need to express myself well in my personal relationships—something I never have to struggle with when I am in the zone during a psychic reading raisingenergy.com
That’s the key, though: remembering to do the work when I am not at work. At home, I forget to carry my crystals, or I completely forget that I can literally use animal communication to tell the cat to stop clawing the carpet! My mate will frequently remind me: "You're the animal communicator, why aren't you communicating?!" He’s totally right. I just forget. I’m just being "Home Angel."
An Important Boundary: It’s not a matter of being tired or not wanting to bring my work home with me. Being a psychic isn't a 9-to-5 job; it’s a lifestyle. It is a part of me that is always at my beck and call, and I rarely get sick of using it. But I have intentionally set up my home boundaries so that transient spirits aren't constantly wandering in and out, turning my humble abode into a spiritual train station. That wouldn’t be good for anyone.
Living in a Highly Sensitive Household
Even if family members aren't explicitly "psychic," they can still feel an accumulation of heavy or chaotic energy in a house. It can create an environment that feels intensely disorganized to anyone dwelling or working inside it.
This creates an interesting twist in my own life. I happen to have a gifted teenage child (which is the age when a young energetic hits one of their major intuitive peaks) and a psychic partner. Yeah... wrap your head around that! So, it is doubly important for me to keep our home energetically grounded.
Living as a psychic—and with psychics—can be challenging. This way of life isn't a random choice; it is who we d are. But because we have decided along the way to actively develop it, we need people around us who truly understand. That can be really tough to find, but I am one of the fortunate, blessed, and charmed few. Just understand that it took a massive personal journey to get here.
Finding Balance Between the Spiritual and Physical Worlds
Talking to me can be hard sometimes, too. I tend to look at almost everything through the eyes of Spirit. Because I process things so heavily on an emotional and spiritual level, I sometimes neglect the physical and mental realities.
I am actively working on balancing this with the help of my partner and friends. I’m challenging myself to be more process-oriented rather than just product-oriented. As a psychic, it's easy to see the final outcome for people, but what about the journey required to get there? It’s always easy to see it for others, but much more challenging to live those lessons ourselves.
I am learning to slow down. When I work, information comes in so incredibly fast that my gut processes and acts on it instantly. But in day-to-day life, it is necessary to use both your gut and your head.
Why the sudden change? I’m growing up. I am learning as a mature adult and practitioner that while it is awesome to have an intuitive edge on things, the everyday human process can be outstanding—and it helps you appreciate the end product that much more.
Connecting the four levels of health—mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual—can be difficult for any intuitive because the world of Spirit feels so easy, simple, and flowing. It’s our expertise. But as we mature, if we are lucky, we learn that the physical world of everyday errands—getting the car fixed, dealing with doctor appointments, or talking to insurance companies—isn't so scary after all.
What to Keep in Mind the Next Time You See a Psychic
Our everyday lives don't need to collide with our psychic selves; they can be beautifully integrated.
So, the next time you see a psychic you know out on the street, know that they will more than likely be happy to see you and chat! But remember: they will feel different, and maybe even act a weeee bit differently, than when they are in the zone at work.
They might be a bit more shy or awkward. They might not remember the details of your past reading in that exact moment, and they probably won't be able to read you right there on the sidewalk.
But they still want to know you, be around you, and care about you. We are who we are, and we always want to be of service in any way we can.

Frequently asked questions
Psychics learn to turn the "volume" down. While Spirit may occasionally push important messages through anywhere, psychics can work with their spirit teams to manage what comes through and how messages will be delivered.
