4 Types of Clients: Which One Are You?

Ladies and gentlemen of the blog-reading world, let’s get real for a second: Why do people actually go to psychics?

Is it for names, dates, and places? Is it for a glimpse into the future, closure from the past, or just pure entertainment? Maybe it’s empowerment. Usually, it’s a mix of all the above. We want those juicy tidbits that no one else could possibly know. We want a stranger to tell us three tangible things:

1. That this work is real.

2. That these answers will actually guide our lives.

3. That our hard-earned money isn't being wasted.

Fair enough! After years of doing this, I’ve realized that most people fall into one of four categories. Understanding which one you are can completely change the experience of your next session.

1. The Non-Believer

The Stance: "This is all nonsense, and possibly dangerous."

This is actually where I started. My upbringing taught me that unless it came from the church, it belonged in the movies. Period.

But here’s a secret: I appreciate the Non-Believers. They keep us real. For a legitimate energetic practitioner, there is nothing to fear from a skeptic. I am grateful that the majority of non-believers are just trying to protect people from fakes.

If you've ever seen the documentary An Honest Liar about James Randi, you’ll see the ultimate debunker at work. While his methods were sometimes questionable, he made me realize that protecting the integrity of the work is vital. If you’re a non-believer, you’re the guard at the gate.

2. The Skeptic (The "Curious" One)

The Stance: "I want to believe, but I need proof."

The "on-the-fencers" are fascinating. Often, they have un-nurtured abilities themselves that creep up when they least expect it.

I was a curious child, which—in a strict Catholic household—usually just meant I was a "troublemaker." My mind was always in the clouds, but those weren't just daydreams; they were experiences. I learned to be cautious so I wouldn't be called "weird" (a word I now wear as a badge of honour) or crazy.

When Skeptics come to me, they are often stoic. Their nervousness actually heightens my focus. My goal is to make them feel safe. It’s okay to gently question if something doesn't resonate! As we find those "secret" bits of information, the shoulders drop, the laugher comes out, and the work speaks for itself.

3. The Cling-On

The Stance: "Tell me what I want to hear, and tell me every week."

I'll be blunt: Do not be this client. I have never resonated with the need to be dependent on a reader. Cling-Ons often look only for the answers they want to hear and get upset with the ones they need to hear. They want the practitioner to fix their problems rather than doing the inner work to grow.

They might nod in agreement even when something doesn't feel right. The truth gives me the opportunity to tune in more deeply. The whole point of psychic work is to heal and guide you toward gaining confidence in your own abilities—not to make you dependent on mine.

4. The Open Client

The Stance: "I’m here, I’m ready—let’s see what Spirit has to say."

After 30 years of reading, healing, animal communication, and extractions, I don’t have a choice but to be open. I still question things, but I don't doubt.

Open clients are a total blessing. They sit down, cappuccino in hand, and say, "You start, let’s go from there." They are calm and collected. They don't try to "show pony" the reader; they take the messages that resonate and let go of the rest.

These clients are a gift from the gods! They understand that while a reading can influence us, we are the masters of our own destinies. Futures can be changed. You should leave a session feeling empowered and at peace.

Which one are you?

The best clients are the ones who can simply be themselves. Be open, question a little, be brave enough to hear the truth, and—most importantly—have some fun!
