The Long Road to Becoming Myself
Canvas Rebel · January 1, 2024
Canvas Rebel asked how I got here. The honest answer took thirty years, more than one culture's teachers, and a lot of unlearning of who I thought I was supposed to be.

Canvas Rebel asked me to tell the story of how I got here, and the honest version is that it took the long road. I did not step into this life fully formed. I was a skeptic who took a reiki class that cracked something open, then found myself in Guatemala being told by medicine people that I would talk to animals, which I was certain was ridiculous. Thirty years, many teachers, and a great deal of unlearning later, here I am.
The through line, the thing that never changed, is the ancient part of this work. I sit with ancestors. Grandmothers and grandfathers, the old animals like bear and crocodile, the ones who came before us and still have so much to teach. We are who we are because of them, and part of my job is to keep passing their stories forward.
These days, the work I am most drawn to is helping other people find their own gifts. I spent years trying to be someone else's idea of normal before I embraced my own. If I can help another person skip a few of those wasted years and simply trust what they already sense, then all of this was worth it.

If you are ready to trust what you already sense, I would love to help you develop it. Ask me about mentoring.
